The Cairns Botanic Gardens are located on Collins Avenue in Edge Hill, 4km from the City Centre

Welcome to the Cairns Botanic Gardens, which is renowned for having one of the best exhibitions in Australia of tropical plants. The collections within the gardens reflect our tropical diversity with plants, including specimens from Northern Australian rainforests, along with plants from the steamy jungles of South East Asia, South America and Africa which easily adapt to the warm, wet climate of Cairns.

Cairns Botanic Gardens comprise 3 main areas; the Flecker Garden, Centenary Lakes and Mount Whitfield Conservation Park.

The Cairns Botanic Gardens and Centenary Lakes make the perfect outdoor setting for Weddings and other ceremonies.
Other services available are Guided Tours and Talks for educational purposes, commercial filming and photography.

For booking enquiries, please phone Marcelle Evenden on 07 4032 6650 or email at gardens@cairns.qld.gov.au

Mount Whitfield Conservation park is located just behind the gardens. The park offers many opportunities for nature based recreation and educational activities along its two major walking tracks, Red and Blue Arrow.

Red Arrow Circuit is 1.3km long and takes approx one hour return. It’s forested, has some steep sections with two open viewing areas overlooking the city and north towards the airport.

Blue Arrow Circuit is 5.4km long and takes four to five hours return. It’s a rugged bush track with steep climbs and should only be attempted by fit persons. Maps and further information are available from the Visitor Centre located on Collins Avenue, Edge Hill.
